You need a kids magician in NJ for your child’s party and you have narrowed it down to two maybe three magicians to choose from. All three charge different prices but all three look like they are the “best” in the family entertainment business. So how do you make the best decision for your party?

Arm yourself with questions that most kids magicians cringe when they hear you ask them.

Question 1: What kind of magic tricks do you do in your show? After asking the magician this question just listen. If they respond right away with the specific kind of tricks they do in the show…and do not put emphasis on the type of interaction they have in the show chances are they are the kind of “magician” that enjoys doing magic as a hobby instead of a professional magician for kids. The professional experienced kids magician will start of right away and put more emphasis on the kind of engagement that is included in the show. Not the card trick, or the coin trick, or the ever boring levitating birthday child trick.

They should be enthusiastically be describing a show that consist of non stop interaction and non stop laughs, not about how the linking rings will make your audience awe in amazement! Kids don’t care about magic…unless the magician can fly they usually don’t find the magic memorable or amazing. A magician who focuses on their “magic tricks” during this conversation with you is sure to be a magician that loses the interest of the kids within 15 minutes. What they find memorable and amazing is the roller coaster ride of excitement that a real kids magician can provide at every family magic show.

So remember this…when speaking to a potential kids magician in NJ for your any family event, birthday party, school function, town event…be sure that you keep in mind that you want to hear the magician talking about the interaction,

Keeping this in mind when talking to a kids magician in NJ will help you start the conversation off on the right foot.

Enjoy the party and stay tuned for the next tip on how to hire the best magician for your next event!

North New Jersey loves the Stretch The Silly Man show. Stretch is definetly not just another magician in New Jersey. This show is super fast paced and really keeps the attention of kids between ages 4-7. While this is the the age that the show is targetted for we hear all the time that both the kids and adults love the show.

“It’s like watching a live cartoon” says Stretch The Silly Man. “The magic is a part of the show but never the main focus, what makes the show work and the reason why kids and parents love it is because I focus on providing an age appropriate kids comedy show that is completely interactive.”

With out a doubt Stretch is by far one of the most sought after magicians in North NJ. While he does perform all over the country his following in Bergen, Passaic, Essex & Morris County keep him extremely busy.

This is one show that all kids should really get to experience for at least one birthday party in their life.

Stretch is highly recommended as an entertainer that will definetly make your event super special and fun.

New Jersey parents love throwing birthday parties for their kids. One of the most popular forms of birthday party entertainment is a Magician. With NJ having the highest population of “Magicians” it can be really tough finding one that is right for you. Not choosing the right one for your event can be a recipe for disaster.

This article will be the first of many chapters to helping you find the right magician for your event.

First lets begin with your budget. This will play a major role in the quality of the entertainer you hire and in our honest opinion this should be the part of planning the party where you don’t skimp on. If you want to stay within your parties budget saving money on physical goods like decorations, food and party favors won’t hurt you as much as trying to save money on the entertainer.

There is a saying that you get what you pay for and one of the biggest mistakes we see parents make is to try and cut costs on the live entertainment. Especially if your event is for kids!

These days, with all the entertainment that is available to kids, they are the hardest to entertain. It’s not like it use to be back in the 80′s when all we had where toys. So hiring an entertainer that can really handle a young crowd and keep their interest is a must unless you don’t mind kids running around the house aimlessly.

Prices for magicians vary depending on what type of event you are having so we will talk about birthday parties for now since this is where most magicians perform.

You can find magicians charging anywhere from $150 to $600 for a 45 to 60 minute program. If price is in your budget I would try to lean towards the middle road as most of the magicians in NJ who charge between $350 to $450 for their show are probably worth it. Magicians who charge on the lower end are most likely “hobby magicians”. Not trying to say they are not nice people but a hobby magician only performs on rare occasions on the weekends and does not have the experience you will need to be pleased.

How do you know if the magician you are talking to is worth it? We will cover that in upcoming articles. But remember when hiring a magician it is really important to think of what exactly you want to get out of hiring a magician in the first place.

If your goal is to just have someone baby sit the kids for an hour then you will be fine with a $150 magician. But if you are looking to completely entertain your guests and be sure they rave about your party then you are going to want to deal with a magician who is a real pro and has experience.

Our next article will cover exactly how to find out if the magician you are talking to can handle your event.
