Magician NJ – How To Find The Right Magician For Your Event
New Jersey parents love throwing birthday parties for their kids. One of the most popular forms of birthday party entertainment is a Magician. With NJ having the highest population of “Magicians” it can be really tough finding one that is right for you. Not choosing the right one for your event can be a recipe for disaster.
This article will be the first of many chapters to helping you find the right magician for your event.
First lets begin with your budget. This will play a major role in the quality of the entertainer you hire and in our honest opinion this should be the part of planning the party where you don’t skimp on. If you want to stay within your parties budget saving money on physical goods like decorations, food and party favors won’t hurt you as much as trying to save money on the entertainer.
There is a saying that you get what you pay for and one of the biggest mistakes we see parents make is to try and cut costs on the live entertainment. Especially if your event is for kids!
These days, with all the entertainment that is available to kids, they are the hardest to entertain. It’s not like it use to be back in the 80′s when all we had where toys. So hiring an entertainer that can really handle a young crowd and keep their interest is a must unless you don’t mind kids running around the house aimlessly.
Prices for magicians vary depending on what type of event you are having so we will talk about birthday parties for now since this is where most magicians perform.
You can find magicians charging anywhere from $150 to $600 for a 45 to 60 minute program. If price is in your budget I would try to lean towards the middle road as most of the magicians in NJ who charge between $350 to $450 for their show are probably worth it. Magicians who charge on the lower end are most likely “hobby magicians”. Not trying to say they are not nice people but a hobby magician only performs on rare occasions on the weekends and does not have the experience you will need to be pleased.
How do you know if the magician you are talking to is worth it? We will cover that in upcoming articles. But remember when hiring a magician it is really important to think of what exactly you want to get out of hiring a magician in the first place.
If your goal is to just have someone baby sit the kids for an hour then you will be fine with a $150 magician. But if you are looking to completely entertain your guests and be sure they rave about your party then you are going to want to deal with a magician who is a real pro and has experience.
Our next article will cover exactly how to find out if the magician you are talking to can handle your event.
